October 11 - October 12
Welcoming Prayer 2-Day Commuter Retreat
The Welcoming Prayer is an incarnational method of consenting to God’s presence and action in our physical and emotional reactions to people and events in daily life. This “consent-on-the-go” embodied practice deepens our relationship with God as we move through the ordinary activities of our day, helping us to stay in the presence of God and the present moment. This retreat will cover the basics of the practice with guided practice sessions as well as time in Centering Prayer. You are invited to begin each day with 7:00am Centering Prayer in Theosis Chapel followed by the Eucharist. Check-in begins at 8:00 in the Fellowship Hall along with a light breakfast beginning at 8:30. Our first sessions begin at 9:00 in the Sanctuary. Lunch will be provided (with gluten free option) and we will close each day by 4pm. The retreat will be led by Jill Frank.
It is very helpful to purchase the “Welcoming Prayer: Consent on the Go” 40-day praxis booklet from Contemplative Outreach to support your practice after the workshop. It is available in either a hardcopy HERE or PDF version HERE.
