March 1st – Ash Wednesday Service – 12-12:30pm
Ash Wednesday marks the first day of Lent (40 days prior to Easter). Our foreheads are marked with ashes to humble our hearts and remind us that life passes away on Earth. We remember this when we are told “Remember, Man is dust, and unto dust shall you return.” This service lasts approximately 30 minutes. The office and bookstore are closed at noon and there is no Contemplative Lunch today. Ashes will also be offered at the 6pm Midweek Contemplative Service.

CONTEMPLATIVE RESPONSE TEAM TRAINING
Saturday, February 18th 9:00am-12:00pm
A three-hour training will be offered for members in our community who desire to participate in contemplative service to the CCH community through prayer, spiritual companioning, and compassionate hospitality. If you are a CCH member with an established Centering Prayer practice of at least 2 years and feel the interior call of the spirit to participate in an ongoing formation/discernment process please prayerfully consider attending.
In the training, we will cover topics related to exploring our motivations for helping versus rescuing, listening skills, boundaries, and expressions of suffering. Role-playing and interactive teaching techniques will be used frequently to give a more realistic insight into the compassionate–contemplative-response to companioning.
The team meets monthly on Saturday mornings from 9:00-10:15 to pray, explore topics of contemplative service and review opportunities for service within our community.
Previous participants have expressed one of the added values of the program was raising their awareness in how they responded to the needs of others in their life outside of our church community.
There is no fee for the training. For more information a table will be available after church February 5th and February 12th. Please register in the office.
